![]() monument before damages |
![]()     Erected in 1917 and constructed of Georgia marble, the Rocky Mount Confederate Monument is the state's tallest Confederate monument east of Raleigh and is the same height as the one on the Capitol grounds. It features four soldiers - infantry, cavalry, artillery, and an officer - on pedastals around a center spire which is topped by a flag bearer.     Vandalism and age have taken their toll. Two soldiers and the steps of the nomument need to be replaced, and a third soldier needs to be repaired. Bethel Heroes 636 is raising funds for the restoration and would gratefully appreciate your Food Lion numbers, purchases of our items for sale, and of course, personal and corporate donations.
